I would like to know what does the resolution mean? For example : 176 x 220 pixels ,is the 176 the amount of pixels in the vertical length and 220 the amount of pixels in the horizontal length of the screen?

A dead pixel is a pixel which does not show the proper lighting and color. A dead pixel can be always off (a black dot), or it can also be always lit (a white dot). A pixel can also be partially dead: as a pixel is made of a trio of colors, each color can be dead independently of the others.

When choosing a black background, it usually shows up as a white dot.
