Hi, i'm getting a sensible offer on a p800 and may consider buying it in around two months.(2nd hand) (I will have to forget the r520m) the guy selling me is a dealer and he said the phone does not have video recording. Is this true? I also heard there are two firmwares for the pda side and the phone side, is this correct? How is the p800 very different from the p900? I also heard water damaged phones may have difficulty in upgrading and reflashing, is this correct? How to check for water damage? This message was posted from a K500

Ok the p800 does not support video recording, but you can watch videos on the phone if that makes sense. The p800 differs from the p900 because of updated software, better layouts, better functions and well it looks better! Im not sure about the water damage thing you were talking about, but if your phone is under warranty then it should be liable to get fixed.

@gov: In my opinion, don't go for the p800. There isn't any video recording, but there is a 3rd party app to do video recording. Wait for Clara to come out, save your money. 2 months later, they would have shaken the price off it.

The phone will definitely NOT be under warranty. What is this about two firmwares? How to check the screen to see if it is ok? (No bullsh*t answers pls.) This message was posted from a K500

In the p800, you cannot update the firmware online. You have to take it to a service center to update the firmware.
I guess to look under the screen you'll have to open it up.

@govigov
hey i think its a good choice....the p900 has better looks cam,screen etc...but p800 is decent.....
abt the firmware...there r 2
R1D--its old...the video cam app does not work good with it......and no full screen video a pic viewing...in fact there r softwares which allow..

R2D--the latest and last firmware....supp app of video cam...full screen pic and video viewing without 3rd party softwares.....

the phones mp3 speaker is really good and a good choice
go 4 it
Best of Luck

Right, I'll try answer everything

The P8 doesn't have video recording as standard but u can install the Phillips Camcorder. However its not very good & has several annoying things which I'm not going into right now!
There are different versions available depending on which f/w u have but the one for the old f/w is even worse!

It only supports MS Duo (not PRO) so only up to 128MB

The different types of f/w applies to all P-Series but all are done in the one single update, u don't do each seperately. And no u can't use the online update for the P800 nor can u get P9 f/w on it.

If the phone has water damage FORGET IT! Its good only for spares. So many things can go wrong & it really isn't good for them!
The warranty wouldn't cover water damage either & it is easy to identify a phone that has waterdamage as there is a tiny sticker on the mother board. Normally it is red/white stripes but as soon as it gets wet the colour runs & the stripes disappear. Also there will be corrosion on most components!

Did I miss anything?
