> t610 irda communication problems

I have a sigmatel ir dongle,a T610 and Im running xp.I get the icon that the T610 is in range when I send an item from phone to PC but it will not let me send anything the other way. I get the message that the phone is failing to respond.I have downloaded newer drivers, changed the settings in control panel. I did get it working once but since then it has refused.Once the phone has sent an item it isn't connected anymore.
