hello, i have just bought a replacement k700 after losing my o2 one, and have a few problems. the first one is that where i used to have an o2 logo on the menu screen to directly access o2active i now have playnow ringtone site. can i change this link to o2 or anything vaguely useful wapwise instead of an overpriced ringtone site?

the second problem is that i cant set it up to send email direct from the phone. i've tried getting the settings of the se site, from o2 but nothing works. obviously i'm doing something wrong somewhere, but have tried with o2mail, yahoo and hotmail and cant get any working.

any help would be great thank you!!!

AFAIK hotail won't work from your phone, as it isn't pop3 or imap4. Tell me what Yahoo settings you tried and I'll tell you if I see anything wrong.

Ummm..I think the PlayNow application is only for the PlayNow, seeing that, it's one of the things why The K700i is so unique amongst the phones...It's something that only Sony Ericsson has...

If e-mail works from your phone depends mostly on what your operator lets you do over GPRS given the kind of subscription you have. Most accounts only allow acces to wap-sites.

You might have more luck using csd (ordinary wap, not over GPRS). Experience is that most operators let you through to pop-servers through that. Its slower of course - but usually more stable too.

Playnow is what Sony(Ericsson) has put in place of the operator-link. It is one of the "advantages" of having a non-branded phone. You can't change it. In previous versions of the software it was a link to the SE site itself I think.

What you can do is set your wap-homepage to the O2 site you prefer, and than push the "online" button on the right side - that leads you to the homepage directly.

(BTW, OT, I find the WAP-GPRS with this k700 to be far below expectations; the connection is never stable, it stalls invariably after some pages; only a couple of sites do come trough as it should. It is all very slow in reality and I have the impression that even my t600 on CSD had a better connection. To me GPRS is way overestimated, I hope that 3G will be "better").
