> Backup PS2 games w/o modchip?

Hiii guys and gals!
Could someone confirm if this is possible and how please??
I have be investigating for the last few days, and although its seems...not-very-possible i still have my doubts...
I need to find a way of making backup copies incase i scratch any of my original games, and be able to play them!!

A chip that is to be soldered to the ps2 mainboard, cd reader, or something, thats makes the ps2 be able to read copied games.

yeah of course!
Have you never got home drunk with your mates and started playing tekken or gran turismo?? thats how ive f**ked a few of my playstation games, by dropping them and stuff..and at 60€ each its a bit painful!!

I also back up my dvds...i normally do it before i buy the dvd, and i always forget to by it anyway..

well I have another solution that is slightly different than a typical "backup". I have installed a Maxtor hard drive in my older PS2 and I have a boot disk that allows me to load games off of the hard drive. I can insert any disk that I own into my PS2 after I have booted off of the hard drive and save the game image to the hard drive. Once the game is on the hard drive, there is no reason to ever insert it into your PS2 ever again, unless you want to play that game online.
No mod chip or modification required. Only need a PS2 (not the new slimline one), a network adapter, a hard drive (between 40 and 200 gigs), and the boot disk.
I don't know if this is technically legal so PM me if you want a link to a website for more info.

Swap Magic - lets you to play your backups using loader software and in addition you'll need either a No-Solder Modchip or a Slide Card. If you buy Swap Magic then you can buy what you need together as it comes in a package. Thats all you'll need.

PS2 HDD first and then this software so you can put your games onto the HDD

Gizmo Guru. Though im sure theyre available elsewhere also.

EDIT: As knight4led has said you will also need a network adaptor to power the PS2 HDD as the console itself cant power it...if you already play online using your PS2 then you already have one...if not then theyre pretty cheap anyway.You can pick up a PS2 HDD and Network Adaptor in a lot of places...i think my brother got his from GAME.
