It seems that my p800 died yesterday night. my touchscreen does not react on any input that i give after startup. my scrollbutton does work but i cannot enter my pincode with that. Does any one have experienced something similar?

hmmmm if its under warranty see if the retailer u got it from can fix it, or SE Service Centre. Perhaps a master reset may solve the problem? This does sound more like a hardware problem though.

yes i think it´s hardware too. when the backlight goes out on the pincode input screen it goes on when i touch the screen but it won´t let me enter the pin or press ok or back or what ever.
i bought it in febr 2003 so i think it no warranty anymore. or is it?

If the light comes on again when you tap the screen it sound more a software problem... Try the reset..

Where abouts are you located?
If you're near to the United Kingdom then i'd be happy to repair your P800 for you.
Please PM me if you're interested
Thanks.

This happened to me once.
It turned out to be a small particle of junk that became lodged in the border of the screen (between the frame and the screen). Since it was lodged there it was as if something was pushing on the screen at this point so not other taps were recognized.
I noticed this was the problem as follows: when the phone was booting up, I heard a "tap" sound even though I wasn't tapping it. Then I notice the lodged particle.
So before you go much further, you might want to clean out the area on the border of your screen between the frame and the screen.

hey i´m going to check that out, altough i was so stupid to switch off the sound yesterday evening.
djkizlive i´m living in holland and currently i´m moving from my house in Amsterdam to my parents house near utrecht. so if the problem is still there i will think about sending it to you. here in holland we have EVIC, as a repair centre. but i think they will send it immediately to the far east.
i´m going to open the phone. how to reach the screen? I´ve all the stuff to open it up.

There's plenty of guides around on Esato, i know for definate there's one to open up a P900 somewhere. If you follow them it's a similar procedure for the P800.
Bear in mind though, you need to be **extremely** careful when taking it apart. Take things very slowly, do not rush. Don't pull the Mainboard up too much otherwise you risk ripping the ribbon cable leading to the jogwheel, which are quite rare i might add!
The screen is easily accessed as it lays on top of everything, and there's a ribbon cable on the right hand side of it which connects to the underside of the board.
Lift the board up a tiny bit, just enough to see where the ribbon cable goes, and ensure its connected properly. Use a flat head screwdriver and put some pressure on the connector to make sure it's properly plugged in. Don't use your finger as it's a lot thicker than a screwdriver and will make you lift the board up more.
Hope this helps.
If you need more specific instructions, or if you want details about sending the phone to me for repair, feel free to PM/e-mail me anytime
Good luck!

I made a guide on taking the p800 apart, just search for p800 and screen, and it should be under "tutorials for taking the p800/900/910 apart" or sumthing like that.
