Hi
any tips on how to minimise Pictures to the smallest size possible with 101x80 pixels without losing much of its quality??
I tried converting a jpeg file into GIF and resizing it to 101x80 size, with 256 colors and flattened layers
the smallest possible size i can make out of the pictures stood at 6Kb,any way to make the file size smaller eg.2 or 3Kb ??

you dont want to loose much quality but you want it 2 to 3kb in size?

that's impossible.

Yeah. Can't be done. You have to compromise. If you are using photoshop, use the save for web function. Drop your no. of colours from there and play with the lossy function. That should bring it down acceptably. This post was posted from a T68i

implement using the t68 color palette. it doesnt sacrifice much of the quality.

Tricks for better looking 3k images: To start with, if your image is bigger than 101x80, make it smaller *before* you make it to a gif. Second, in Photoshop, convert to gif in two steps: First choose Index and the esato palette. Then convert to rgb and then choose Index again, but now choose 'exact colors' instead of the esato palette. This will remove the colors in the palette that are not used in the image. This can cut an image from eg 3.7k to 3.0k. This post was posted from a T68i

A simpler way would be to convert to indexed colour (with t68 palette) and then Save For Web. In the seperate menu Use Auto for no. of colours. That'll clean out all the unwanted colours from 256.
