I wonderd if anyone noticed the little lightsensor on the top right corner of the keyboard. Just above the right softwarekey there is a small hole, wich i think is a lightsensor, cause if i open my V3 in a room with alot of light or underneath a light, the keyboardlight doens't get lit. In this situation you can press any key and still the keyboard doesn't get lit, but if you put your finger on the small hole and you press a button the light gets turned on.... my question to you other V3 users , am i seeing things or is this reality?

welcome to Esato
we've discussed this in the main
Motorola RAZR V3 discussion (was LF: ) thread including adding some pictures there, and I actually called motorola who told me the hole is there for the manufacturing equipment to hold the phone. There is a second one at the bottom underneath the keypad. For some reason the top one is covered whereas the bottom one is not
edit:
here is a direct link to that discussion

My Moto V500 had this feature, apparently due to light sensors under the rubber stops that the shell rests against. Definitely for that phone, the backlight for the keys turns off straight away in strong light, but stays on otherwise.

hmmm. trying the test that GX suggests does have the same effect on my V3. I just got a brand new replacement this week but I am sure it didnt do that on my old one when we had that original discussion so it does sound like GX is right and the info I got from Motorola was nonesense

Well, i fiddled with my phone for a while, and i still get the same results as before, in a well lit room no keyboard light, finger on the hole... tadaa , i feel like god cause i created light.. now finger of the hole... wait about 10seconds and the light goes off... hmm... think its time to get motorola on the phone again masseur?

lol... i also read the thread, but in my oppinion its bullocks that the hole is there for the soul purpose of mouting the case, isn't this done with sucktion ??

Yeah, something new to play with.. but finding this out was kind of scary, just having my V3 for 4dys now , and finding out your keyboard light doens't work is a little bit scary for me

... good thing i tried different things... and by accident stumbeling upon this little tiny hole that was the source of me not having a keyboard light.. WHY DIDN'T THEY PUT THAT INTO THE MANUAL!!!

... ahh well, i love my V3 , got some flaws but he.. phone / softwarebuilders aren't perfect (yet)

I'm 100% positive my first V3 lit the keyboard everytime and I did notice that this replacement had a slightly newer firmware so I wonder if the difference is in that?
I've had the V3 for a few months now but use it as a secondary phone so only play with it when I really have the time

ahh well, i am glad that i found out before i returned my phone (ofcourse with a baseball bat in my hand) and demanded a new phone, wich would probably have the same thing... and i would return that one to (again with a baseball bat and a angry crowd

)...
So all you V3 fans out there, we've got a lightsensor in our phone... that combined with the looks (and the metal case it came in with) we've got the coolset phone arround

.. euh.. right?
