NEC N923 is the next version of NEC thin series. NEC N900 was 8.6mm thin and the latest N923 is 9.5mm with about the same features, plus longer talk time.

I've seen a few of the N900 on ebay lately and been quite tempted to get one to check out

N900 pics for comparison

This one looks just as slim but the style doesn't strike me as much as the other did

Masseur the only problem with the N900 is that it doesn't actually have a earpiece, you do need to attach a external wired headset everytime you make or recieve or calls...which to me is a big no no..the phones looks stunnng and is good for texts but not practicle.

specs for the NEC N923 say: GSM 900/1800

is it compatible with T-mobile USAs 900/1800/1900 MHz?
in other words, how important is the 1900 frequency?

Well, t-mob USA uses exclusively the 1900mhz band. Cingular uses 850/1900 here. Those are the only two GSM providers here in the US. So I would say with a 900/1800 phone you are SOL.
