Yes its great to have to have wire free solutions....the more the better..I can see we are getting to the day now, hopefully in the not to distant future,when we will have have completely wirefree devices in the home and elsewhere...can't wait!

According to the website, it is induction, which seems the only possible way to do it. But your phone or whatever yo uwnt to charge needs something, about which the website is saying nothing, except that it is working on deals with manufacturers. Maybe a different battery? It could turn out to be rather costly then.

This works the same way as those electric toothbrushes you just put in their plastic base to charge.
There needs to be a coil (inductor) in the object to be charged, a coil in the mat is used to create an electric current in the coil in the device, this is then used to charge the battery.
Effectively it is a transformer without the core.
