I do a lot of buying and selling on Ebay, and have haven't been ripped off so far, the trick is not to go for deals that are 'too good to be true', be wary of people with no feedback, and if selling do not send the item unless you have the money in your hand.

And I personally woundn't accept any payments via Western Union.
