I have a P910i with the flap removed.

Occasionally when I go to compose or reply to an sms, I can add the contacts number but I can't write the text message. The black triange on the right of the screen doesn't appear. I need to switch the phone back off and on again to correct it. I've also noticed it when trying to add an appointment to the calandar.

Has anyone else had this problem and managed to correct it?

It is unfortunately a wellknown problem without any other solution that to turn your device off and on again - sadly but true...

the way i noticed it, this happens when the phone is a little bit low on RAM. although you need to restart the phone to correct this, you can help prevent this situation from happening by installing SMAN and regularly freeing your RAM by flushing the tasks based on a preveiously taken snapshot.

this happended once to me, i went into control panel\text input and when i selected JotPro it said the phone didn't have enough memory for this. hope this helps.

happened to me today, i think it was the second or third time in the 12 months that i've had it.

before the bug occurred, i got a few "unexpected end of file" warnings.
i had no idea what that meant, when i tried to add an appointment the text-input-arrows were gone, and i wasn't able to open the on-screen-keyboard.

i shut the phone off, then back on, and the bug and error messages were gone.

Thanks for the replies!

I've just had a read about SMAN and it sounds really useful. I'll install that and see how I get on.

Hi Mr. K,

rest assured that you are not alone, but somehow Sony Ericsson has been ignoring this issue since P900 right up till P910i Please read the following thread to understand more about this issue:

Edit : No, Sman doesn't help and a reboot is the only solution currently

Cheers

@701

the purpose of sman here is to flush the memory so that it doesn't get too low in the first place (before the end of file messages and before the black triangle disappears). once the the messages have appeared and the triangle has gone there is no choice but to reboot the phone so in this instance sman wont help. sman is used to try to prevent it from happening not to restore it once its happened.

But still even Sman can't prevent you from restarting your phone now and then due to low memory...
