I was talkin to someone on ebay, and they are a powerseller. They offered me a s700 for a very cheap price. I asked if i could pay with PayPal. If they say yes, is there ANY way at all they can rip me off using paypal?? if so how? because if i dont get the package, i can stop the payment with paypal cant i??

Once you have sent the payment you cannot cancel it.

You are protected if you have purchased the phone through Ebay. If it was for sale in an auction or Buy it now and you won the auction then if you pay with paypal then you are protected.
If you are just sending the money direct and not through ebay then you are not protected.

If they are a powerseller then I'm sure they can be trusted.

Hope this helped!

i would be sending the money direct. maybe i can set up a time and they can put it up for buy it now at that price, then ill click it (all within like one minute) then i know i will be protected just incase. and if they are not willing to do this, maybe they couldnt be trusted in the first place...
thanks for your help

you can only NOT cancel it when they have accepted it. in some cases it gets accepted automatically as soon as you send it but depending on the owner of the other paypal account they can choose to have to manually accept payment.

if it is cancelable you see a cancel button on the transaction line in your summary

unfortunately there are several criteria that must be fulfilled before an auction can get paypal protection and this includes shipping it to the registered paypal address and other things (can't remember them all right now)

agreed but all the same check for alot of recent history. its possible to be a powerseller and not use the account for a while because it takes a while for powerseller status to lapse when the account is no longer being used and thus doesn't meet the selling volume and/or values required to be a powerseller. during this time its possible for the acocool to be taken over by a scammer. good recent history by the seller usually lets you know its ok

Assuming it isn't a highjacked profile! Some people crack the password for profiles with huge feedback & steal their ID to appear trustworthy!

You should be OK, just make sure that this powerseller's account hasn't been hijacked, and you're talking to a scammer rather than the rightful owner. Can you contact him via the 'ask the seller a question' button? Scammers generally ask you to contact them on a specific email address and say that the email address attached to the 'ask seller a question' button isn't working or something.

If the powerseller's genuine, you should be ok and on for a bargain!

Yes right, dont send money direct, i dont know where paypal satnd on protection but it is an ebay owned company so they may have some sort of protection, but i wld deffinatly ask the seller to set up the deal on ebay and send u link immediantly then ur protected up to the region of £200
