I have just reinstalled everything on my pc and when I installed the newest pc suite and then connected the dss-25 syncstation the installprogram said that it was installing the dss-20...

How can I change this (and by the way what is the difference between dss-20 and dss-25...?)

I don't know on the difference between them, but i have a DSS-25 syncstation, but it's installed as a DSS-20.

Doesn't really make a difference, same thing inside..

there doesn't seem to be much of a difference. The confusion with the drivers arises from the fact that there are two versions of the DSS 20 as I noted here

since the later model DSS 20 is so similar internally to the DSS 25 windows often confuses the two.

Coincidentally my windows doesn't even specify which model I have, just lists SEMC DSS Sync Station with no model number.

there is nothing on my system that works improperly so I see no reason to go tinkering. Plus everything was up to date when I installed everything, which was about 3 or 4 months ago.

Coincidentally, where are you looking that it says you have a DSS 20 or DSS 25? I checked my device manager.

It is during the installation that pop-up window comes up and basically says that it is about to install the drivers for DSS-20 or 25 whichever the case may be. If you have a very fast PC, you won't even notice it being displayed. Because right after it being shown, the driver installation begins.

Anyway, I did see the DSS-25 that came with my P910i was installed as a DSS-25 not as a DSS-20.

well i beg the differ. i can agree that there is nothing wrong with either dss20 or 25 using a P900, but it does not recognize my other phones I have, such as the S720a. Everywhere you look, it says the sync station DSS25 supports S720a, but I cannot detect the phone. it just says connecting, wihtout any results. Yet, via IR, I am able to connect and synchronize the S720a. Does anybody else have the same issue or was able to figure this out?
