Dare I say this, but I am considering defecting from my faithful P905 to an Imate Jam / MDA compact (Wi-Fi (capable), megapixel cam, same dimensions as P900) instead of going to P910. Any honest and considered opinions out there?

It depends entirely on your needs. If you think the P910 is lacking in features and the JAM is better for your needs, then go for it. But if you are migrating because the 'grass looks greener at the other side of the fence' even though you won't have any use for the other features, then I would certainly say that you better think twice. Let's we compare the price of the two gadgets.
In my country, latest price for i-Mate Jam (a.k.a. O2 XDA II Mini) is about USD750, Sony Ericsson P910i is about USD710 (pity P900, its priced is dropped to USD580).

So, with the different of about USD40 you'll get 1.3MP camera, Wi-Fi capable/optional, more memory (RAM + Flash ROM), more external memory slot (MMC + SDIO, possibly cheaper than MSD Pro), Mini USB Port, Windows operating system (wide availabilty and variety of application/software than Symbian UIQ --> I should be admitted, OK?).

Frankly, if I have to upgrade my P900, I would absolutely not to choose P910i and will go to O2 XDA II Mini.

This is another story:
I bought my P900 on July 2004 when the price is about USD700.
Now, I have plan to sell my P900 and upgrade to another smartphone or pda-phone (not decided yet), but I dissapointed of SE because the second-hand price of SE P900 in nowadays is ONLY about USD430 (buy), so if I sell my P900 I will get about ONLY USD400 or less.
WTF! I will lose almost a half of my money using P900 or about 7 months!

Having had the P800, P900 and P910 I now do have the JAM and I love it.

last week though, I was feeling quite guilty about not having an SE so I bought a very good P900 from another member but sitting there with the JAM and the P900 for the whole of last week I'm afraid the P900 is out the door again

The JAM just offers so much more for the money in my opinion and in a much handier size which, for me, has always been important.

take a look through the i-mate Jam thread for more pictures and discussion
