Most of the tools I have access to say something like "User Data will be lost". Photos etc, I don't much care about but I don't want to lose my phone numbers! Is this the data in question? If so, how do I back it up? The very wonderful FMA has the teasing 'Backup' option but it's greyed-out, even with v2 which I just installed today. It may be possible to copy numbers from the phone to the SIM but I'm buggered if I can work out how.

But is that right, that debranding will wipe all my phone numbers? SIM will be removed beforehand, obviously...

Yeah AFAIK the only firmware flashing tool that doesn't wipe everything out is SEUS, and that won't debrand as it won't flash a generic firmware over a customised one.
