I have a feeling, this might actually be possible! If the phone can search for a bluetooth device in its vicinity, there surely must be a way to to find out how far it is from the phone? Or am i being stupid here? :-D

while i do admit it would be nice (and useful, too) to have such a feature, the fact that apparently there has been no implementation of such a function so far may indicate that (i) there is no interest in that or (ii) it is simply not possible (or feasable).

It may be possible, as it is with other bluetooth enabled devices, for example HP pocket pc (i guess it is possible with all devices using windows). Also when i connect my p800 with linux, i can see a signal metter (in my pc, not in the phone) so i guess its a matter of having that function in some api

What would happen if there are multiple bluetooth devices in the same area?. Whose signal strength would this function show? Many things to be sorted out if this is remotely possible!
