P900/Windows2000 Pro
Hi
I can't get (either of) my PC(s) to see my SE P900.
I have just replaced the stand/cradle thing thinking it was that.
Bit I tried the software that came with it and then I tried downloading various software online...
But when I click on the "my P900" link, all I ever get is "Not connected." or sometimes "Connecting".
I have tried installing some new drivers and they call my P900 a "P910" or something. And still they dont seem to be able to see my P900.
So I uninstalled everything and went back to using the CD that come with it. (c. 9 months old P900). But still no joy.
9 months ago it was working with the CD's software, but now it isnt - not even with a new cradle.
My PC can definitely see the USB stand/cradle - as it ask for drivers when I attach it! - but not the phone itself. Although the phone is charging in the cradle!
- Should I be using newer drivers than the once on my CD? If so which ones?
I can't even get in to my synchronisation software because it tells me I need to attach my phone first!
"No phone has been identified by Sony Ericsson Phone Connection Monitor.
Please connect and define your phone first"
But it *is* connected...!
Utterly confused.
Please advise!!

i have xp so dont know if there the same ...but ..first open device manager and click on ports ..then look for semc-dss syncstation and see what port number is next to it .Then u need to go into your phone connection in task bar (2 arrows) and right click on that. Then properties and make sure there is a tick in the same port number. Then try putting phone in dockin station and see if it connects

Okay I see it
"SEMC DSS-20 SynchStation (COM3)"
And yes when I right-click on the 2 arrows on task bar and select Properties it says
"[tick] USB COM3 Connecting"
So they are both Com3.
I tried unplugging the USB lead and the USB entry goes away.
So I ted and using a different USB port, and I get
"[tick] USB COM3 Not Connected"
Until I put the phone on, whereupon after about 2 or 3 minutes I eventually get
"[tick] USB COM3 Connnecting"
So Windows can see the stand. And the Phone... but it cant actually "connect" !
Any thoughts?

Have you looked in the Control Panel->Phone Monitor Options->COM-ports that the COM port is booked and activated?

I have no such entry in Control Panel!
I do have Phone and Modem Options if that's what you mean however... though it just "configures your telephone dialing rules and modem properties".
Nothing else about phones seems to be visible...
Any other ideas?

When I used a PC (Had a P800 years ago) I constantly had problems with the PC not seeing the phone. It turned out that I had to reboot the phone and the PC occasionally because the USB COM ports would get all hosed..
Now I use a Mac.. no more problems.. (no more cradle either for that matter.

HELP!
I *still* can't get my (Win2K Pro) PC to see my P900 !
1.
Under "Control Panel" > "Phone Monitor Options" > "COM Ports"
I have three COM ports and all 3 are unreserved
COM PORT - STATUS - RESERVED
COM1 - ENABLED -
COM2 - ENABLED
COM3 - ENABLED
2.
If I click on the "Phone Connection Link" icon on the task bar
and click on "Properties" I can see this:
[unticked] CABLE - COM1 - NOT CONNECTED
[unticked] CABLE - COM2 - NOT CONNECTED
[TICKED!] USB - COM3 - CONNNECTING
[unticked] INFRARED - - NOT CONNECTED
The problem is of course that the COM3 is always "Connecting" but never actually CONNECTS!
Please help I am getting desperate!
