Sorry...but here we go again...

This has been asked many times before and I have trawled through loads of old threads...... not really got the answer I need.

Looking for a way of unblocking/unbranding Orange P900. Not able to sync with my PC so online DIY methods wont work. (Is unblocking / unbranding the same thing ?)

Appreciate any help by PM.

Ps.... I'm in Manchester.

unbranding is getting rid of anything the network puts on it such as menus, screensavers .e.g
unblocking is illegal

I think he actually means unlock. So the phone can be used on another network other than orange.

And no, it is not illegal provided, of course, that you hold title to the phone - this usually happens after month 3 on most 12 month UK contracts (or bought it SIM free).

If you send your phone to SE they can "unblock" it to other network use. However you will find that they will say you‘ve invalidated the guarantee - this is only true if you use a market stall type place to unlock your phone, otherwise its bull***!

Sorry you're right...... I want to Unlock and Unbrand it.

I have upgraded so am under the impression that my old phone is now mine to do with as I wish...... in this case sell.

If I unbrand it will it automatically be unlocked....
and if I unlock it will it automatically be unbranded.

Will an SE Service Centre do this, or does it have to be some potentially dodgy back street oppo ?

Unlocking & unbranding are different.

If u get it unlocked (release the SIM-lock) it will then accept any SIM card but will still be branded.

Branding is part of the firmware & to remove it the phone needs to be flashed with unbranded/SE firmware

Your old phone will be yours to do as you wish.

A far as I am aware, so somebody correct me if I’m wrong.

Unlocking is to do with certain sim locks in the phone, different combinations relate to different operators.

Unbranding is purely getting rid of the networks providers crap that is put on the phone when you buy it.

So as far as I know, doing one will not affect the other and you will have to do both as they are 2 different things.

I am not sure if SE will do anything so I can't comment on that though.

Sorry.
