Yes that works fine so it's not a connection or GPRS problem as far as i can see

Ha! That is a wap browser. So you must be using a wap/gprs and not full internet/gprs. May be somebody switched you to the wap profile from the full internet profile?

A similar thing happened to me while using the ngage. I was using three connections at the same time. Opera, the default browser and the email client. I opened the default browser first, then opera and later the email client. I noticed that opera wasn't runnilg properly but the other two were. So i closed all three apps and selected opera first and clicked connect. It seems opera works when you select it first before using any other app which uses the net. Hope you understood what i'm tryinto say.

hi guys thanks for all the ideas,
no i have not selected my wap account in error as I have full conection dialogue each time i start a browser so choose which connection I want to use each time I connect
i am on vodafone rather than Tmobile
It just seems like opera does not try to send or retrieve data when it is saying it's connected!
had a look in Opera prefs and cant find any reference to proxy so not sure what to do there
all very odd!!!
Cmon England lets see what we are made of tonight!!!!

I have now tried uninstalling Opera and reloading from the Opera site but all my bookmarks are still in place and Opera whilst showing it is "connected" still steadfastly refuses to download any content!
Could it be that my original installation has not been fully removed? if so, any ideas on how to do a "complete" removal of Opera so I can be sure I am performing a completly clean install?
This really bugging me know as the SE browser is really not a substitute for Opera.
