downloaded various ringtones since activating the phone, the ringtones worked up until yesterday when they all started stating barred, whenever I try to use them?

I thinked you need the DRM package to make it work.

I think you may have downloaded ringtones that already had some protection on them, in this case a 'time limit'. I guess they were 'demos' so to speak.....

How can they do that? Put a time limit?

well there are diferent ways of protecting your files, one is to bar it from being distributed from the phone or device, another is setting a max number of use, like when you download a movie you can only play it 5 times after which your permit expires, or you can set a time limit, like file will remain valid for one month after which your permit expires. And the latter is what wapchimps problems sounds like to me.

yeah I am pretty familiar with DRM, but I would not expect purchased ringtones to have a limit. There must be a techically prob or they have listed the wrong ringtones.
The K700 also has an in built menu to the

site. Do their ringtones have expiry periods. Im just wondering if they were downloaded from there?

Thanks for that info. I can see it work in a pc, but in a phone? How can it do that? And how do you put such a counting mechanism in a simple mp3 file? I never knew it could be done on phones.

DRM = digital rights management.
Can be done on most file types!

i use drm for my files. you can add a time limit (mine will expire 2010)
you can also put a usage limit. eg. if you click on the file 10 (or whatever you set) times it becomes invalid.
