just in the middle of comparing v800 with s700 and notice v800 has mini USB but not s700 which leads me to the question...if i get a data cable sutable for the s700 is there any difference between this and the miniUSB. eg. transfer rate/driver etc?

unfortunately no difference. the V800 uses the same serial over USB that the other phones use and indeed uses the same sync station software that the S700 and K700 use
