> V800 Modem Troubles

I want to dialup using my laptop and my V800. The V800 USB modem is installed and it communicates with the phone (for a second or so), but the dialling then immediately stops. On checking the modem log I've found that it basically gives a "No Carrier" and then stops.
Any suggestions? It's pretty annoying. And no, I do not want to use GPRS. I need a regular data line to check my bank account details.
I've also tried dialing my university internet account, same problem.

I have created a gsm data account, which I presume I've installed correctly. However, I thought such an account was not necessary? Can't assign much more than the number my banking software or a windows dialup connection would be calling. More than that does not make sense.
My previous phone (V600 Motorola) did not need such a thing.

It's just a regular phone number. The program allows you to select the modem it should call out on, so the situation is basically similar as if I had a regular modem card installed.
Always worked fine via bluetooth on my V600.
I'm willing to bet my V800 will refuse to send a fax too.
I've created a data account, assigned the number I would call from my PC, left other login information such as login name and such blank, set the account to analog and 9600 kbits/s. Did not seem to make a difference (yet).

After creating the data account, find out its CID no. Then use *9***x# to dial, where x is CID no.

Hmm, only the default Vodaphone GPRS data account seems to have an ID, none of the others I created do. That is, the account information lists no such number.

In data comm, highlight one and select info. It wont say CID but will say something, usually the first one you created is 1, second one 2, etc... How many.th is this one. Try hit and miss if all else fails, it will most probably will not go above5.

Where do I add the "*9***x#"? In the Windows initialisation modem settings? If I do, the modem log just reports an error:
