I have a k700i on o2. My current firmware is r2l001 and im looking to upgrade it. Ive had a look around at the other topics but im still a bit confused.
Ive looked around at remote servers and it seems that the davinci server can update the firmware and get rid of the camera shutter sound (tried putting it on silent, wont work) at the same time.
If i get a credit from the davinci website and debrand my phone with R2AE033 firmware and use the same customisation file (eu 2). Am i still able to disable the shutter sound like it says on the site?
Are there any issues i need to be aware of when switching firmware like this? Will the camera automatically change from 3.09 to 3.10 or do i have to do something extra for that?
Am i right in saying that R2AE033 is the latest firmware?. I read it gets rid of the annying 2 second answering delay, are there any other firmware versions that i would be better off getting?
sorry for all the questions but i would appreciate it if anyone has had experiance in doing this and could let me know.
thanks in advance.

Upgrading to the latest generic firmware via Davinci will sort camera sound, 2 second delay and is painless if you can get it to talk to your syncstation. Did it recently and it is relatively intuitive. You will need 1 credit for upgrading / unbranding, PM 619 for cheap credits. An extra 1 credit if you want to unlock your phone whilst you are at it. I had to try a few computers till I could find one that allows Davinci to speak to the syncstation, however.

thanks for the quick reply.
i assume i would need a master reset before and after the upgrade, or is this not required?
Also is the syncstation the only method of doing it? or can i use a different type of cable?
thanks.

No master reset needed before or after upgrade. Mind though, you will lose everything stored on the phone during the upgrade. There are other unlocking cables, the beauty of syncstation is you can then use it for free upgrade on SE website when they release a new firmware. Syncstation generally available cheap on ebay, maybe cheaper than other cables, disadvantage as I say is it doesn't seem to work with Davinci. Forgot to say as well, your camera software is automatically upgraded with the firmware.

Sorry that should be Davinci does not always work with the syncstation. Also you are correct, the R2AE... is latest firmware.

SE Tool (www.setool.net) will disable your camera sound - and perform a lot of other things that Davinci just can't! It's well worth the few pounds buying the needed cable (I've also heard from people using Davinci that they are having trouble with the DSS-25 support from time to time).
If you use SE Tool you can also customize a lot of other things, like sms sounds, power off sound etc. I have made a sound package with a script that disables the camera sound 100% even if the volume isn't set to mute. It also has other neat customisation features. Read all about it here:
http://www.mobile-files.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5139
With SE Tool you can also cutomise your CDA information. That way you can use Sony Ericsson Update Service in the future. With Davinci there is no way to customise the CDA information.
