No.
The T68 gets email from a mail server. so forward your hotmail (if you can) to that mailserver, and configure your T68 to connect to that mail server.

is it possible after setting up the account to "leave mail on server"? i know on the t39 it was not possible. i just want a copy of my new mails.

i've tried out to set up an account with yahoo mail- no problem! my t68 left the mails on server- is this option now standard?

The T68i will not delete emails from your server unless you "mark them for deletion" and do another send and receive. This is how it works, it always leaves emails on the server when you download.
As for Hotmail, Microsoft (under their .NET policy of entrapping customers and getting as much revenue they can out of a free subscription by removing and rediucing what they give you for free once you've signed up) do not offer POP3 or SMTP or IMAP4.
You can't download Hotmail to your T68i email client.
