My vote goes DEFINITELY to .ogg. Especially when I heard SE mobiles support this format. This message was posted from a T610

AAC for me. I don't know, it must be just my ears but I find the quality better than that of an MP3 file.

Crackerjack,

How is the filesize reduction rate from MP3 to AAC compared to conversion (from MP3) to OGG?

mp4 audio (using Nero6 conversion) is good also but on P910i plays through the Video player application. I prefer ogg using OggPlay software.

what about wma? It is half the size of an mp3 and I don't hear the quality difference.

SonyEricsson phones won't play .wma files. Microsoft license.

RedStar, sorry I don't know. I don't use Ogg player, and I don't import from an MP3 to AAC. I usually import from a CD or buy from itunes. Converting an MP3 to AAC is not advisable because the quality would deteriorate even when you try to increase the bit rate. This message was posted from a K700i

@RedStar

As a general rule comparing to mp3:

Many people agree that normal mp3 at 128kpbs is near CD quality while others still prefer 160kbps or higher for mp3.

Newer formats such as mp3pro, ogg, aac, mp4/m4a/3gp audio, wma sound similar to a 128kbps mp3 at a compression of 64kbps which typically halves the file size of each track.

Converting from one audio format to another is not ideal as your compressing an already compressed file so you should ideally rip straight from an audio CD.

But, I use sites such as Napster & MSN Music UK for most of my audio which supply music files in 128kbps wma format. After removing the encryption I convert these tracks to 64kbps ogg or mp4 files & they still sound great to me.

Saying that, I still listen to most of my music using my 5GB Rio Carbon player using the 128kbps encrypted wma tracks as downloaded from the music sites or ripped at 128kbps wma from CD's.

Would love someone to make a player that can do wma, but I don't suppose it'd be worth the cost of paying microsoft. I'll just have to stick to my Creative Zen for music.

Incidentally, I've got myself one of these Skullcandy jobbies that connects to phone, music player and your own headphones. Very useful for not missing calls....
