I know the press release from SE says Q2. But Q2 gives SE, in marketing terms, until 23:59 at 30th of June to release it.
The phone is probably ready in technical terms. It looks to be identical in hardware to V800, and only firmware & cover change needed rework to make it Z800i.
What I'm worried about is what limits the deal with Vodafone sets on SE. There is a swedish article in mobil.se:
-
http://premium.mobil.se/nyheter/visa.asp?id=9033&sid=1
It's about the Z800i release. At the end of the article they refer to a Paul Moonga in Vodafone that says SE will not sell the Z800i before May.
Any insiders got some other source on real release date ?

the exclusivity deal will be for the v800 and varients as the z800 is seen as the same model as the v800 in vodafones an se's eyes.... its a bit strange i know but its true.

so then the v800 is for vodefone? is that why there is a V infront of 800 because it stands for v-vodafone. so i guess we should call it then the vodafone 800

i mean they gave the identical device a name like z800 which is for clam shell fone like the z600.

Because they signed an agreement and received money to wait

it really is that simple. the model is the same hardware wise and therefore falls under the deal of exclusivity. According to a local voda guy the exclusivity deal was made for 6 months... so May seems about right.

Found a new article here in Norway which sets June as release date for Z800:

Don't know how credible the article is, but really hope that March is the real date for those of you waiting.
I ended up buying a V800 in Sweden, without contract, but locked to Vodafone for 12 months. Which SETool2 fixed for me.
