Is there a way of doing a forced master reset? e.g. holding the power button or something like that?

There is no magic button, twist or stick a needle in a hole master reset.
YOu got to do it over the menu.

UP
Press *
DOWN
DOWN
Press *
DOWN
Press *

Follow the menus to do whatever you wish, including hard reset
