> s700 MP3 as ringtones?
Bookmark topic
Hi... Just got myself the s700 today - unfortunately, I forgot that by getting a Voda Live (Australia) phone I think the phone's restricted somehow...
Can someone pls confirm if they're able to use ANY mp3 for their ringtone? Mine says 'Cannot use this file' - I've called SE and spoken with Voda too, they say it's an SE thing and not something that Voda would do specifically for their brand... I don't know who to believe now.
PLLLLEAAASE HELP!!!
If anyone can point me in the right direction I'll owe them BIG TIME!
Thanks...

of course you need to know that the DRM Packager is no longer offere for free by

on their site... they have to pay royalties of the software after all

so you need to find it elsewhere...
or debrand your phone

Thanks for your help guys... and yes... I've just found out that the hard way that the DRM packager software isn't free
I'll hunt around for it...
Another question... unlocking the phone, I thought this only applied to phones that were locked into contracts and HAD to stay on a specific network. I can use my phone on another carrier, just the icons etc are Voda Live.
By unlocking - will ALL functions and icons be reverted?
Is there any risk to the phone?
Is it costly?

I've noticed there's quite a bit of content on it - anyone in particular?
I'll definitely be looking into unbranding this thing - NOW I KNOW WHY IT WAS CHEAPER THAN THE OTHERS!!!
I never thought I'd be caught out like this...

If your phone already does work on other carriers it already is unlocked.
What I said is 'debranding' which means flashing it with generic software instead of Vodafone specific software. As with all flashing their is a small chance that it may not work but the risk is not really bigger thanm having it flashed at a service center.
There are a number of threads about it... search for 'S700' and 'setool' and that should give you something to start with
Not terribly costly really... you'll need a cable (although I've been informed that in a couple of weeks a DSS 25 sync station will also work so if you have one of those you may want to wait) and you'll need a credit, which I believe goes at less then 10 euros at present.

You guys ROCK!!! the MP3s are working....
I still don't like the look of the cheesy Voda icons though - so I'm definitely going to look at flashing my phone...
Again, thanks...

I've got a t68 data cable - I think that's the same as the t28 - which according to site I've seen seem to be acceptable for flashing my phone (s700)...
I'm just trying to figure out one last thing - how do I use SETOOL?
I know I have to get a credit, but the site tells me I have to go to a reseller? can't I obtain it over the net or something?
Can someone help?
