just for anyone who is intrested.
Ive heard about a new high definition DVD being worked on, it will boast 15gig per layer per side on the ROM version and 20gig per side on the RW version, Toshiba recon tht this new DVD could be with us as soon as the end of 2005. Its basicly a development of the original DVD so disk's, this would mean these bad boys would cost the same to make and would be backwards compatible with all our dvd writters we have now.
and another thing hitachi have also said they expect to produce a harddrive's close to 1 terabyte at the end of the year, the largest at the mo being 400gb SATA.
u most likely comatised from bordem now, but i found it intresting, I imagine 20gb dvd's will make backing up a hard drive painless

what about data writing speed ? It should have high speeds otherwise it will ages to write a 20 gb disk

well i assume as writter speeds increase aswill tht dvd speed but no point in have a dvd tht can be written faster than the writters can write

yes but with blueray u will need independant writter / reader devices they wont be compatible with any current devices
also its mainly being promoted by sony which probably means its gonna be on the expensive side
