I scanned a bit of old entries but couldnt really find it. Does it make a difference on p910a or p910i? I live in the US and use T-Mobile as my carrier. Would love to hear advice. Thanks!

only main difference is that the 910i has the 900 band while the 910a has the 850 band. T-Mobile does not use the 850 band on their network, but you could wind up roaming into a Cingular area only covered by 850 if you travel a lot in the US. If you plan to travel to other countries frequently I suggest the P910i, otherwise it doesn't matter.
I personally have the P910a on Cingular and love it, but most people seem to have fine luck with the P910i on T-Mobile.

I know it's been 'asked an answered' but I've just switched to Cingular from Sprint and am thinking of getting the P910a. I have read that some of the data functionality doesn't work (SMS, etc.). Is this true? I understand, too, that it may be corrected by fixing the settings. I'm not the most technical person in the world and would appreciate feedback on how difficult it is to benefit from all of the functionality offered by the P910a, with Cingular as the carrier.
Also, how is the overall reception in light of the 850 vs. 900 issue?
Thanks!

Like I stated earlier in this topic I have a P910a on Cingular and couldn't be happier. All of the features work for me without any problems and have worked since day one.
Most of the problems people have concerning SMS or the like are due to getting used phones, especially P800's, that have been reset. Sometimes an older phone just has issues with using new settings and needs to be formatted or reset again. None of these issues are related to the network you choose.
As far as reception is concerned, I got the P910a to be on the safe side. I have not personally used a P910i and compared the reception my phone gets to the reception that phone gets, so I can't really say. What I do know is that my P910a gets the best reception out of any phone I have ever owned.

I just got a P910i and I'm also with Cingular. Everything works fine, strong signal, GPRS settings, SMS, etc. Really sad tho how Cingular rates for media is going up. I decided to junk the Media works package and just get unlimited internet for 25 bux and then 200 msgs for 5 bux separately since I don't use MMS at all. I just noticed that I already used up 1.4 MB in my GPRS data log. Yup, 3MB ain't gonna cut it.
