me thinks all the cell phone makers should have a standard for changers so that i can charge my SE p900 using any charger. What do you think?

I'm currently charging my i-mate JAM and moto V3 using the usb to mini USB supplied with the V3. It also charged my i-mate SP3i and I could use the same cable with the V800 though it didn't charge that.

I think this is the way to go as its already an existing standard and sync/charge cables are easily available

Its definitely a good idea to have a universal style of chargers for all cellphones. Have to say, i prefer nokia chargers tO SE. This message was posted from a T230

Some of the manufacturers uses diff voltage, if they were all the same, i did blow up my batt and due to more voltage, and my pcb would smell like burned rubber. On a serious note, standardisation is good. One of the reasons being interchangablity. There are chargers that let you choose your phone's voltage and comes with 6 to 7 charger heads so that any phone can be suited. With intentions like the charging pad, the charger itself may become history.

I don't like universal chargers. One of those burnt my gameboy 4 years ago. (I chose 6v which is proper for it but when I checked later it gave about 10volts). My opinion is that those uni-chargers are not reliable because they usually come from unknown manufacturer. But it's only my opinion. @ masseur i heard that charging over usb is allegedly bad for mobile's battery? This message was posted from a T610

How could that be @blayv? The phone surely doesn't know from which source it is being charged. I have really felt the pinch sometimes when i forget to take my charger and inspite of having a charger of other brands nearby, i'm not able to charge my phone. I hate those situations! I don't know, it had choices 3-4.5-6-9-12 but when i measured it none of them were true (2.5-5-10 etc.) Also bout 10y ago I burnt decorative lamp but the mistake was mine. The charges was correct but I forgot to decrease from 12v, because I used it for lamp and something else. But what you say is true, cause since i changed from t65, i put my phone in 1 pocket, and charger in the other. ;-) This message was posted from a T610

Standardization is good for recycling and for the consumer and all, but it doesnt provide the manufacturer with:

1) A unique charger.

2) Merges all the charger markets into one, hence increases competition.

And many other disadvantages to the manufacturer.

Maybe easily available converter cables could be handy?
