I've done a search of all the forums and tried to find a description on the net but had no luck.

Basically I have an iPaq 8370 and an upgraded t68(m).
I've followed the guide for setting it up as if it was with GPRS but using the dial-up number of an ISP (tried a few), however it never works.
I'd use GPRS if I could but I'm with Singlepoint and their not turning it on until Sept.

I'd be REALLY grateful for any tips or ideas as to how to set this up.
Cheers.

Hi,

I believe your Ipaq is H3870 right? Me got one too and using T68i with bluetooth connection. Well since your telco has not started GPRS, you can configure your Ipaq to dial-up to your POP accounts or Hotmail via Pocket Internet Explorer to retrieve your mail. The setting is a bit complicated for Ipaq, anyway I just try to describe to you here:
Go to Settings in your Ipaq, select System. Select Connections and tab on your Internet Settings to Modify. Create a new (if you don't have one or delete the previous one).Enter the name for your new connection and select the modem. I'll prefer the Bluetooth Dialup Modem (if you don't see it, check on Compaq website for new updates in the modem). Select 115200 for Baud rate and click next. Leave the Advance as default unless the telco has specific IP and DNS for GPRS. Enter the country code and area code accordingly. Most phones, you’ll need the APN number you want to access, so you’ll dial *99***APN number#. If your mobile phone doesn’t support the ETSI dial string, *99***APN number# (the Motorola Timeport 260 doesn’t, for example), just enter *99# as the phone number. Click next, to disable "Wait for dial tone before dialing".Here it depends again on your telco whether you need to enter extra dial-string modem commands.

If you still face this difficulty in setting your GPRS, view the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/stepbystep/gprs.asp

All the best.
