23.01.2005 I bought a 128MB MemoryStick Duo MagicGate memory card.
Until today it did work fine - it worked normally in my mobile (P800) and in a MemoryStick USB card reader with MS Duo
adaptor.
Unfortunately - a strange problem occured today: the card works normally in my mobile (reading/writing/formatting), but when
I put it into card reader it is impossible to write anything onto the card (cannot format, create files or folders; Windows
2000 says "The disk is read-only"). CHKDSK can scan the card for surface errors, but file system scanning is not possible
(same as above - read only). Reading works normally.
The card reader and the card adaptor are fully functional - 16MB card works just fine. The same goes to Windows - I tested
the reader on my friend's PC - the same effect (can read, can't write).
When I format the 'faulty' card in my mobile and then put it to the reader Windows reports 32kb of data occupied on the card.
Ah, and writing data to the card through PC Suite desktop icon is also impossible - when I dblclick on the "Memory Stick"
branch of directory structure, the system freezes for 5 seconds and reports that the card is not in the mobile.
What can I do to bring my card back to normal?? Please help me...

I had a similar problem last year and also tried what you have.
It most likely that the card is corrupted that normal Windows software misses.
Try a few more programs just to make sure.
P.S. I never got mine to work. Had a replacement.

my memory stick (128 mb lexar ms duo magicgate) came with a 5 year warranty. If I were you, I'd go and get a replacement since it is under warranty.
Now I'm going to check the dictionary for the difference between a guarantee and a warranty. I have wondered for too long.
