Sorry to ask this as I am aware this has probably been asked 1000 times before. I have looked on FAQ but am still unsure. I have bought a preowned unbranded K700i today for a bargain £80 (phone is immaculate) the software is R2AA003...I am wondering is this quite an up to date version and can I expect to experience a relativly trouble free time with it? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

r2aa isn't that old.. i'm using it right now.. no problems with it .. but there is a new f/w out already.. i believe it's r2ae .. if u dont' find any bugs with this firmware u are using.. i dont' really suggest getting an update b/c there not much diff

On the contrary r2aa is a particularly bad version, my new phone came with this version n it was quite bad...some research here n i found out that its a version that is known to have problems and was called back by se. The problems i faced were:
1) random restarts on wap
2) slow operation
3) phonebook bug: if you type alphabets to search for some name then the c key instead of deletin the last typed alphabet tries to delete the contact itself.
4) night mode was hardly useful(camera version 3.9)

An upgrade to r2ae apart from solvin these issues gave extra benefit of improved battery life as well. Get one done asap.

well.. i dont' suffer any of the symptoms u mentioned

and i also like pressing "c key" to delete.. its much more convient imo ... much faster than going to edit, then choose delete and stuff

@yeppi go into phonebook...try searchin for contact by typin first 3 alphabets of the name...now suppose if you had to type abc and instead entered abd, you cant press "c key" to delete d and type c instead coz the phone will instead try to delete the contact itself.

One of another reasons to upgrade to generic R2ae. and clank is right, the contact book bug was simply terrible.

Obviously you are in the dark mate. You are the only person that likes r2aa. Contrary to even the SE developers! Mate, go thru the K700 firmwares overview for a thorough understanding.

I'd follow their advice if I were you. Don't wait until you accidentally delete your contacts. It's better to be safe than sorry.

R2AE also has an improved camera software which improved the quality of the pics in low light.
