I tried but I couldnt replace it with the current Contacts.cdb

Had u synced the contacts with Outlook? If not u could restore the backup then sync with Outlook, reformat if u need to & sync again to put them back on the phone.
You could also restore the backup & send the contacts to another phone by IR or BT, reformat & send them back again.

Yes, sure it will work that way, even if I restore a backup and save the contacts on a file and send it to the PC and re-format and send it back to fone, but this is a long way, cant it work just by using the file Contacts.cdb?

I don't know for sure but I know u can get at all the files of the backup simply by changing the backup file extension to .zip
You can then browse it as a ZIP file & extract the bits you want.
If sending the .cdb to the phone doesn't work then maybe u could make a fresh backup & rename it as a ZIP, swap cdb files with the other backup, give the new one its proper file extension & restore it to the phone

i found a simple way to backup contacts to duo.though off topic, i simply go to contact manager in contacts & send all contacts as mms then use file manager to copy contact.vcf to duo . Now whenever i loose contacts i just restore by using contacts.vcf in duo
hope it helps
BTW i similarly store jotter files on duo kinda reduces strain on c:
hv good day

the problem with the .vcf option is that you lose all categories, associated pictures, ringtones.
quickcontact has an excellent backup and restore option, check it out.
The other, more complicated way, is to paste back the contacts.cdb file during a backup. It's the only time the file is not locked. Use PC File manager by Epocware, and when PC suite is backing up, hit the escape button, and then you should be able to paste your contacts file back in.
