> How to recognice a T28 Data/Service cable
Bookmark topic
I just bought a T28 cable but couldnt update my S700 to a newer firmware. SeTool just keeps saying that i should press the power on button shortly, which i did a million times now but it doesnt respond. After some research there appears to be 2 types of T28 cable. Data and service (duh). Anyways, is there a method i can use to check what kind of cable i have. Maybe i'm doing something wrong with my settings. HELP!
O my cable pins look like this
ll.. .ll........ll so all the pins are exactly the same as on my phone.

the pins of all cables are also the same so that's not going to help much
Does your cable state a modelnumber at all? Or any text for that matter? Is it an original product?
This is a serial cable we're talking about?
Where did you get it?

With some phones, just pressing power does not suffice. We need manual ignition.
When you get the message to power on phone, do not! Instead, remove battery then replace it quickly, then press power button.
If this not works then 100% cable or com port error.

On this cable it says:
ERI
t28/t28sc
thats it.
I tried the manual ignition thingy gbrook said but still no response. Think the cable is the problem. Will go back to shop to check. THx anyways! ANd yes its a serial com cable

As jagger2k pointed out you may have the incorrect cable. Many people get confused with this including retailers.
Be careful!!
