Hi!

Could someone who has a 802se tell me about the menu's to set up email accounts?

I know in European models - in connectivity - data accounts I can set up the connections such as dial up.

Then set up the account that links to that dial up connection in messages - email - options - edit account - new .

Are the Japanese menu's the same ?

Simply, what needs to be setup on a Japanese mobile like the 802se?

I have a V800 now and want to flash it to Japanese this week!

Any takers?

I am hearing more about Japanese phones being setup to send the mail as mms!

Does anyone have a 802se with a CD ?

The CD will have a manual in pdf format on it! Could someone email it to me please?

Hi! Good thread this!....

I had a long chat with Vodafone Japan just now and they say...

The Japanese U-SIM is different from the UK U-SIM!

It is the Japanese U-SIM that holds the e- mail settings....

Hmmm, still thinking about this....

I wanted to know how the person in Japan using my_name@t.vodafone.ne.jp actually enters the address so it is 'married' to their mobile.

The answer I was told, is that they achieve this through settings on 'My Vodafone' within the Vodafone internet pages.

Does this make sense?

Hi Pallister!

Yes, I need to see the menu structure of the 802se.....

I want to be clear about what is in 'connectivity' and 'messaging'

So frustrating...

@ofiaich You still havent flashed your phone to check it out yet? I dont think it will work via mms to tell you the truth..but then your best bet is to wait for a generic Z800 if they release it in Japan (I doubt very much that will happen though)

I'm in the same boat here, I want to be able to use pop email like how I was able to use on my old T610, but there is no email option in the V802SE menu. I want to be able to send emails in Japanese, but when I do it through my @tmomail.net (T-mobile) somehow it reformats the email and I get blocks when receiving or sending japanese text. This sucks!!! If anybody knows a solution to this, please let me know here or pm me!

I have not found a solution...

I still use my PDA with my Z600 and send and receive email in Japanese even with attachments. pictures and documents..

the Sharp 902 UK model can receive in Japanese but can only send in Romaji... but there is no POP or IMAP accounts, just the Vodafone.net setup. The 902 UK can be unlocked easily so at least, it is possible to tinker with the mail setup...

I have been having long discussions with the people at Vodafone and O2, who are responsibile for handset provisioning... and have said that at least one handset is needed outside of Japan that has full Japanese mail support.

O2 say they will launch i-mode in October and the way i-mode handles emails might mean Japanese input is possible. That is if they keep the character sets...

Vodafone agree in principle, that such a handset is useful but they say they got other 3G issues to deal with first.

I will talk again with these people in 3 months time.

I have been told by a senior exec in Toshiba (Europe) that they will try to arrange for me to receive an unlocked V 902T (TS 921 ) from Japan! Maybe that will allow me to use Japanese in email but I think some the other functions of the phone will not useable in the UK with the UK sim...

I've been able to set up my pop email through T-Zones, and sucessfully been able to send japanese emails to other pop accounts, but when I send to a web-based email like hotmail, it comes all garbled. I don't have problems being able to receive from web email addresses though. However I still cannot view Japanese sites. This is very aggravating...

I have no idea what T-Zones are so not sure what to suggest...

I guess you are sendiong mms to T-Zones for forwarding? because the 802se doens't have an email cleint does it?
