What exactly is a sidekick? I've heard it many a time but no idea what it is, apart from a phone!

I keep thinking of those fruit flavoured Schnapps-based alcoholic drinks you get in the UK in those plastic shot glasses that you can attach to the top of a pint glass!

Hehe, no, a SIdekick is a T-Mobile Only (I think) mobile/PDA-ish thing available in the US. THere was a picture of a rather lavish one in the Paris HIlton's mobille hacked thread if you need an image, but its probably best to go to google images.

It is made by a company called Danger, and it has another name. But true to T-Mobile style, they sell it under whatever name they feel like calling it regardless of the manufacturer's.

It is a cool device, and my friend has one. It has lots of cool features for the money, but it has lots of flaws too. There are no almost no programs available to add to it, it is annoying to synch with the computer, it feels strange to talk on it, and you can't dial without opening the keypad.

Plus the biggest problem with it is the built in over-the-air synchronization that cannot be disabled. There is at least one person and perhaps several more that have full access to the servers that store all the sync info for all Sidekick users on the T-Mobile network. That is how Paris Hilton's info got nabbed.
