T616 uses GSM 800 / 1800 / 1900.
Would it work in the Philippines? Yes. Local networks also deployed 1800 cell sites diba? Yun nga lang, limited ang coverage.

some areas has gsm 1800 only... some has gsm 900.. so if you go to a place where only gsm 900, then you will have no signal..
no need to worry.

so you need sim unlock. i dont know about SE phones, i have a nokia, i had it unlocked using a dct4 calculator. maybe some members in this forum has an equivalent for SE phones. sim unlocking has nothing to do with your phone being triband. a lot of phones here in ph are triband nowadays. i have a nokia 6600 unlocked thru a calculator, all i had to do was input my imei, model and provider. try this link, if there isnt any for SE pones, join the forum there and ask other members there to help you. there has to be a way.
