Gear Live has posted instructions on how to make a Playstation Portable launch countdown timer for obsessed PSP freaks (you know who you are..

But best of all the Countdown timer can be set for any event even such as say a movie release like Star Wars Episode 3.
Introducing the coolest way to count down to the US PSP launch: a desktop timer coupled with a sweet PSP background. Here’s how to set it up.First you’ll need to grab the PSP desktop background image
here. Then, you’ll need to snag a copy of the
Phantim3 countdown program. After installing the program you’ll need to replace its default background image with this one, by copying it over to its skins/default directory. Finally, in the same directory, replace the text in the Custom.txt file with the following:
Tahoma
8
84 66 62
111 52
150 52
186 52
222 52

Oh Absoluetly i forgot to mention that!

Here you go this should help!
PhanTim3 is a fully customizable and skinnable countdown timer. It can stick on your desktop and count down to any arbitrary date or special event; for example, movie and DVD releases. Some of the most notable features are:
Countdown to any arbitrary date/time.
Choose from a large number of provided skins, or make your own!
Set up a random rotation of skins, and have them change automatically.
Intuitive, easy-to-use interface.
Easy to install and add/remove skins.
Works on any Windows computer!
Best of all, PhanTim3 is freeware, so anyone can download, use and distribute it.
