Hi,

I read the P900 handbook and it mentions this method of getting info from your service provider.

I am on Orange PAYG here in the UK. Does anyone know any settings for this to enable me to get some "stuff".

Thanks!

I've NEVER had an Area Info message. I don't even know if the Networks even send them, it does say in the phones help that Area Info messages may not be available from all Networks

Our network has it- weather, news, sport, etc. But 1st you gotta call providers call centre and ask them to enable area info for you. I presume that same goes to you, and if you call them don't forget to ask is service charged and how much. Here it's free of charge. This message was posted from a T610

I don't think that any UK network uses 'area info' to send localised weather or traffic reports, I think it's all text subscription, i.e. call your telco and get them to text you daily etc. with the weather for the north, south, midlands, etc, but this isn't dependent on what cell or local area code you're in. This I believe is how area info works - it sends localised information to your phone and 'customises' it depending on what cell, dialling code, local area code etc. you are in.

The service is free if it is available on your network. It's broadcasting information. This message was posted from a T618
