I got my V800 in November and have used it since then with the SIM card I had already used before in my Z600.

On the 14 of Feb, Vodafone issued me a new SIMcard, to which my number had been ported.

I've inserted this and all worked well for a few days.

Now I'm beginning to notice how my phone sometimes does not 'see' the memorystick (pro duo) which has been inserted since day one without any problems. The only way to resolve this is to open up the back of the phone, take out the memorystick and reinsert it, all while the phone is switched on.

The first time I noticed this I had never dropped the phone (I have now dropped my phone though) so I am thinking that this may be related to my changing the SIM card, but I don't really understand how that is possible, or how to fix it?

Anybody has an idea?

The memorystick itself works fine in other devices by the way

Yeah tell me about it. Mine started having problems only 1 month from when I bought it. I don't think I'll be getting another V800 either. Build quality is very important to me.

@Vlammetje

What firmware version do you have?

My 1GB Sandisk Memory Stick Pro Duo works fine...no problems at all.

I've got R1D003. Won't be able to upgrade till I've got my broadband up and running again. Regardless, this fw has been on since the beginning and only recently have I experienced problems.

On the suggestion of a member of another forum I've run a few tests. I've recently started using the phone as a modem (this is what happens when your broadband is gone) and he suggested the battery temperature might have something to do with it.
So after using phone for modem for a fair bit: phone still sees MS so this isn't the cause.
After gaming whilst charging (another bad habit of mine): phone still sees MS, so this isn't the cause of the problem.
After lengthy browsing on the phone itself: phone still sees MS so this isn't the cause of the problem either.

I still have no idea what caused it, but my phone has been able to identify the MS without problems the past 3 days.

To be continued......
