I have just discovered that I can not only pair my phone to my XP based laptop using bluetooth but I can have the option to use a voicegateway. I have absolutely no idea what this does or how to use it. A google search points to a technical post on Esato but the resulting list does not mention anything.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

I use the VoiceGateway feature on my desktop with my bluetooth headset (instead of my phone).

What i use it for is to use Netmeeting, use my bluetooth headset as my speaker and mic. So I can have my freedom of walking arround the house (within the bluetooth reception range) and avoid using the speaker on my computer.

I also use it to listen to internet radio at night while everybody is sleeping.

Thanks for that information.

I have heard about that and had assumed that the bluetooth audio feature of the software was for exactly that. It sounds fun and just might be useful for Skype calls too.

The bit that I do not undertstand is why does the paring work between the phone and the PC? FYI the bluetooth connected symbol on the phone is the same yet has a headset surrounding it. This does not happen when paired with a bluetooth headset is paired. Any ideas?

I'm not sure about this either.

I only know that this headset surrounding symbol only occured on my P910. Not sure about the K series. I was using T610 before and there was no such symbol.

Also, i notice that ever since i use the P910, the "connection time" is dramatically shorter. That means with my 660 headset and T610 cell phone, each time I press the button on my headset, i have to wait for 5 beeps before i can say the "magic" word.
However, when I switched to P910, i can press the button and speak instantly. So from this i would say that it's in a "Alway Connect" mode. (Anybody, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong!)

Back to the PC paring issue, the symbol stays the same (meaning not headset arround and no "bidirection arrow" symbol like my T610). But the symbol on my PC changes to connect status.

I forgot to mention. You may also use VoiceGateway between your phone and the PC. What it does is during a call session on your phone, you can transfer the sound from your phone to your speakers on your PC thur the VoiceGateway.

Please share how you used the PC/P900 bluetooth facility and what you did to use it at its best?

Thanks

Was using a logitech keyboard which had bluetooth built into it, went into the section where I could pair the P900 and PC together, then right-clicked on the paired connection and it gave me the option, wasn't called voice gateway though, think it was transfer audio or something along those lines.

Not tried it on the USB devices though......

Yeah, Im a mac user but was stuck using a pc for a short time, and i have to say, bluetooth on a pc is amazing. You can utilize so many profiles!! Ona mac, you're limited to file transfer, and that's about it. You can't even use bluetooth headsets yet :'(
Still, the whole virus and usability thing beats windows, so im sticking with my mac mini
