ok heres the deal,iv had a k7oo on orange since oct, from the start its been going wrong like deleting contacts and crasging while typing a

smiley into a txt (it happens every time, when i took it back i was told "well dont type that in then" wasnt happy about that!
and its been reseting itself at least twice every hour since i got it,so i decided to take it in for a replacement, but was told it would go to be fixed,i thought fair enough will be fixed in a week or two.......nope,got it back, they updated the firmware (deleting about ten quids worth of orange downloads, but it still kept reseting itself (beeping, going white screen, flashing a few times then coming back on.
so the next day i took it back and was told it would be sent away again and lookied at by a senior member of the phone fixing squad, waited, got it back, theyv reset the whole phone again and guess what...........yep still broke,so i had a few words to say about it and then got told, dont worry il send it away for you.....er no you wont, and then got told "dont worry,if they cant fix your phone they will replace it with a reconditioned k700"
can they do this? iv payed 200 quid out for a k700 and looked after it making sure not to scratch and damage it and now its broke they want to throw a second hand phone at me!
anybody with any information pleeeeeeeeease help,i want my phone or a new one, isnt there a law against this?

That's the usual policy thrown at you. Any replacements done by the network are usually a refurbished handset. Kind of disgusting seeings you don't know what you're getting and there's not really a great deal they can actually do with it. Dealing with the network itself can be an absolute pain in the ass and should be avoided at all cost. I've had trouble asking for basic bits of info off them.
A general rule of thumb is to stick with unbranded handsets from respectable retailers which I try to do now and phones I can easily sort out myself for the most part using my own PC.

I know it's a bit like bolting the stable door etc etc but you do state you had problems with the handset since you first got it! Orange are quite good in that you have a 14 day no quibble returns policy regardless of reason and 28 day faulty item returns policy. I always make sure that I give any item I buy a thorough testing and unless I am 100% happy I return it and get a NEW one till I am happy. I remember buying my GBA SP and returning 2 due to dead pixels and dust under the screen...I was happy with the 3rd one!! Don't think GAME were too happy but hey.... **** em!!
Sorry, I know this post doesn't help you in anyway at the moment but just to say that in future make sure you are confident that whatever you buy is unlikely to cause you grief.

yeah from now on i think il stick to unbranded phones and get some info on repairing myself,it was just a really weird fault and if 2 phone techs cant fix it then im sure i woudnt have had a chance myself lol.
i understand it was prob written in the fine print that id get bummed if it broke but its just strange that if a new handset breaks u get given one thats most likely been used as a football by a 15 yr old chav

its like sending a porsche back for repair and getting a skoda in return

Not doubting the quality of repair work where you took your phone but I know what they can be like with repair work in shops considering I do electrical repairs where I work from time to time. More often than not, they're not usually 100% of what the fault is and tend to do half assed jobs and sometimes not even properly repair it after it all.
At the end of the day, some don't even care. They'll have a rough idea what the repair is but most likely won't even test it. A job's a job and they get paid regardless. I don't want to put where I work down but I know from working there to avoid taking stuff to be repaired there. Stuff is just shoved wherever it'll go and is even knocked on to the floor (I know of Hi-Fis being dropped over 6ft and TVs falling over in the van). Some repairs aren't even properly tested and just assumed to be ok.
Just warning you of what repair work can be like in a shop. Tends to be a lot worse than you imagine.
