Dear all,

usually i use S700 as a MP3 player, with all of its limitation. 128mb is a crap but i enjoyed listen to mp3 using it (less cluster in my bag). Hei, S700i is even awarded as the best of 2004 MP3 phone in asia.cnet.com.

Today just tried iTunes software. It converts some of my songs to MP4 format. I decided to try to convert some audio CD to MP4 (or AAC).

I found that sound in MP4 comes better in earphones, has more dynamic a bit, and the output from the mono external speaker is better.
And for the same bit rate, MP4 is smaller although not that much. The only drawback is you cannot use MP4 as ringtones (heck, i have to find other (mp4) cutter program...).

Now i am thinking to convert most of my songs to mp4.

I wonder how is other's experience playing sound in K or S700? Which is you prefer? MP3 or MP4? And why?

my opinion is that both of the format are equally good, its all about getting the right balance with the bitrate. I did that experiment setting mp3 and mp4 to the same settings, and they both took up the same amout of space (with about 0,01mb differnce) and both sounded the same, so id stick to mp3 cause of the ringtone thing.

If you use the same bitrate it will be the same size.
The good idea about using mp4 is you get the same quality using a lower bitrate and therefore smaller filesize. 96kb/s mp4 sound just as good as 128kb/s mp3 but with lower filesize.
Use mp4 for music files, and use 30sec mp3 files for ringtones.

I must disagree with that.
Ever tryed mp3 pro for nero, 80kbps is equally as good as normal mp3 at 128kbps...
Bad thing is that it only goes upto 96kbps, but all the same i think its plenty for a mobile phone.

S700 does not decode mp3pro so it will only sound like a lower bitrate mp3. Besides in a comParation i saw between all sound formats aac (mp4) and ogg were considered the best...like mp3 was better than mp2, mp4 is better than mp3 This message was posted from a K700i

I have songs at 96kbps Mp3pro on my k700i with no problems at all.
And dont try saying that its different cause its a S700i, because that would be pure bullsh1t!

Well dont know about you guys but i like the output from mp4 better. It even sounds better than some of my 10mb-192 kbps mp3 songs. I like the clarity and the dynamic of the sound. And with lower bitrate i can squeeze more songs to the mstick. This message was posted from a S700

@Folling its you that dont know a f.... about the subject! Just read the specs, k/s dont decode mp3pro hence they will play the file like a normal mp3 without taking advantage of mp3pro advantages...stop being dumb this is Obvious! This message was posted from a K700i
