I still have a broken V800 that can probably be fixed with setool. Unfortunately, the setool standalone + twister haven't arrived yet.
I still wonder why for example setool doesn't support the DSS-25... In the good old days, a serial cable was a serial cable... why are some tools working with serial cables, some with certain usb-to serial converter cables, some with the DSS-25 and some only with some blackboxes like the twister flasher that seem to be something more than just a serial cable... ?
I'm a little bit p*ssed off because I have everything needed here (software, hardware) but it doesn't fit together and I still have to wait...

Rumours have it that setool are working on a version that will support DSS-25 but as long as it isn't there you'll have to make do with what you got.
Besides, SE themselves are just as bad... every model updates online with a DSS-25 or DSS-20.... but the V800 updates with the USB cable...

it's convenient because you don't need to buy a sync station... but what the hell I bought one already!
And a T28 cable for unlocking, while I've got a ternminator dongle sitting here collecting dust....... I can build my very own unlocking scrapyard soon.... it's just one of those things
I'm counting on them all having their use in the future though.... at least as long as

won't change their connectors they just might come in handy again one day

That sounds interessting. By the way, I didn't only want to rant, I really wonder what's the difference between a serial cable and the DSS-25 for example...

Yeah! I wouldn't mind, but my v800 is quite dead. It's no longer recognized via USB, but it's still alife wie the serial Port / DSS-25. So their nice 'recovery' mode is quite useless via USB..

Yeah can it be that the connectors stayed the same for many years? I had nokias most of the time, but my very first mobile was a Ericsson clone (Sharp?) back in 1995. Not sure about that one (it had another charger as well) but I think the one in the late nineties (don't remeber the name, but it was the smallest phone available then, only 1 line LCD and it hat a shutter that looked as if the mic was in there, but in fact it was completely useless and could even be removed

- I think this one already had the same connector?)

yeah they've had the same connector for years and that is a big plus imho
I'm hoping for setool to become dss-25 compatible soon.... but I think davince (don;t know url sorry) already support the DSS-25??? Have you considered trying that instead?? or is tghere nothing they can do for a dead V800?

No, in fact it was davinciteam that 'killed' it. At first one of the developpers promised me to interrogate the problem but now he doesn't even answer
