> K700: calls+gprs problem
Bookmark topic
Quite recently i discovered something very strange in my k7...i was told by a friend that she called me and was told the phone she's trying to contact is not available(which is btw the recording/error that my network plays when the phone is out of covered area or cannot be contacted for some reason) Did a bit of research into this and as it turns out, the phone rejects calls when its transmitting data on gprs...in layman's terms its as if the phone is unable to catch the incoming call when its receiving data by gprs and hence the network simply assumes its out of range

Note that i can have a web session in progress and it still receives calls but rejects them IF the call comes at the same time when its receving data. I came to know this as i use my phone as gprs modem and had a download in progress on pc...i tried calling the phone many times but no joy. Then i tried downloading a java game...during this precise time when it shows download status on screen i called it n sure enough it rejected it. Then i tried something else too...i tried calling it as soon as i press the "online" button ie while its loading home page and again was dissapointed

Can you people please check this with your phones so i may know if this is a one-off problem or not. Please try downloading something(preferably big like game,video,mp3) to phone and calling when progress bar is displayed...try this a couple of times just to be sure and also when gprs is fast so its certain the phone is receiving data and has not timed out.
PS: I've tried to play around with 2 settings in an attempt so solve this...one is "preffered service" and other is "allow calls" in data accounts...no matter what i select its always the same problem.

It's not really a surprise. You're basically asking the phone to use two different transmitters at once which it won't do unless it's something special.

Well if you mention it suspends for you; I don't know the ins and outs of how it works so I couldn't say if it's a software problem or it's just impossible for your phone to even discover the call. Could also be down to a problem with your provider itself too.

My t610 can receive sms and calls, while using it as a gprs modem. I'm not sure but will try also to call myself while downloading directly to phone.

i don't even know anyone who uses k 700 personally. Ask user rick700 or be more persistent.
