Phones which run on Operating Systems like Symbian, windows and linux etc are generally termed smartphones. The K700 runs on the SE os. So its not classified as a smartphone. This message was posted from a T230

Showed off my new K700i the other day to a colleague at work and he got all envious because he hasn't even figured out his 6600 which he has had for about 5 months.

People like that should not buy smartphones because it's usefullness is lost on the poor sod...On my K700 he commented on how easy it was navigating the menu compared to his 6600 which has icons for everything and half the time you don't know what you're doing.

Yeah. Many 6600 users i know doesn't even have a clue as to what the capabilities of smartphones are! Many guys i know use it just for taking photos! And some occasional calls! This message was posted from a T230

People buying technology beyond what they'll ever use goes without saying. I pretty much use everything electrical I've got to its full potential except for a couple of features at the most. On the other hand, some of my friends are at a point where they can't even use all the functions on whatever they've got. 2 examples that came to my attention were 2 guys I know with their mobile phones. 1 has a Motorola flip phone that he didn't even know had Bluetooth or played real tones and these are just 2 things I briefly found out that he didn't know about! Another has a K700 that he wouldn't know most of the stuff that he does know about it if it weren't for me. He was actually annoyed with me for buying it after he said he was going to (ended up a top choice phone for me after not having much luck with the T630 - has all the features I want and a similar UI to my previous phone) but he doesn't have the internet at home or anything to allow him to transfer stuff back and fourth between the phone and PC such as games and pictures. He's ended up relying on getting games and themes from me.

Yup very true and its based to a large extent on peer pressure+social show-off value of smartphones. Even a person who doesnt even know what a smartphone is would bask in the fact that people around him call his/her phone a SMARTphone so it must be something good. I've come across a lot of individuals using only the audio n camera based features of the phone and surprisingly none of these are its forte.
