I've tried it and it works!
"If you sign in to Gmail using a browser that isn't fully supported, you'll automatically be directed to a basic HTML view of our service. To make sure that you can always access your mail, we’ve developed this basic HTML view that is compatible with almost any browser.
Since your browser isn't fully supported, you might notice that some of your favorite features aren’t available in the current view, including the following:
* Filter creation
* Settings
* Spell checker
* Keyboard shortcuts
* Address auto-complete
For access to all of Gmail’s features, sign in to your account from a fully supported browser, and make sure you have cookies and JavaScript enabled. "

yeah. I used Opera but I'm sure the built in browser on the P9** will be fine.

Would like to be able to use Yahoo via Opera (I don't really trust that web2mail thing - don't want to put my password into another site).
Wouldn't mind if I could get Yahoo POP3 working, but despite being in UK, I'm on a yahoo.com address, so you have to pay for POP3. Rubbish.

All totally random comments guys.... oh well!
The point of the post was that previously the only way to access your gmail account without going through 3rd party sites etc was when the pop3 setup was implimented. If you tried to use the browser to view your account it said it was not compatable. You can now however view your account but with limited function.

Thanks, it works fine!
I have not discovered any limited functions so far.
But I get the message "For a better Gmail experience, use a fully supported browser. I use Opera.
